Advice needed

Hi everyone, first time poster here.
I hope you can offer me some advice; I have recently started to get into graphic novels rather than comics although I am pretty ignorant about what is available.
The genre that I like the most is something post-apocalyptic; something along the lines post nuclear war, zombies etc etc.
Can anyone recommend something, a particular book or author?

I'd suggest you start off with the first few TPB's of Kirkman's Walking Dead. I'm assuming you want self contained GN's though so maybe the Walking Dead isn't your thing since it's an ongoing, though as far as zombie fiction goes, not much compares.

IDW's Containment has been collected in a trade as well. It has zombies...in space. You might also check out Remains, another TPB from IDW. I guess that's a start at least.

You might want to check out Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan[Wikipedia.org]. Post-Apocalyptic certainly though not the zombie or nuclear variety, this one's more horrific than either of those scenarios...

I'd also toss Wasteland from Oni Press into the mix. And maybe the Dark Tower comics as well.

Might be slightly OT as there are no zombies, but what about Judge Dredd; the Apocolypse War?

The Walking Dead has been the best series to read GN collections for years for me. I hope you try it. It does something different,interesting with the zombie story while still being horror wise very good.

Walking Dead is brutal. Nobody is safe in that series. He's crippled, injured or killed just about everyone.
