A few years ago i read four books by a writer called F. Paul Wilson from the Adversity Cycle. (The keep. Tomb, Reprisal and Nightworld where the ones that i read. I believe that there are another two for me to pick up.)

I thought that these were a reall riviting read with some great characters. Has anyone else read any of these? What did you think?

Hmmm my other half likes these books and they're not easy to come by! We're still searching for one title.
I've not read them but they sound interesting.

I really enjoyed the ones that i have read. As i said, good characters. Looking on Wiki, he seems to be quite a prolific writer. I need to locate a further two of his Advercity cycle books and look for some repairman Jack titles.

If you haven't read them, i'd recommend trying it. They're great train fodder.

He also wrote at least one book under a pseudonym,a thriller. I have it on bookmooch if anyone wants it.
(Deep as the Marrow by F Paul Wilson writing as Colin Andrews)

I read both The Keep and The Tomb around the same time that I was also into James Herbert and Shaun Hutson - I did enjoy them to be honest but I seem to remember them being heavy on the gore :)

I've read the Adversary Cycle the whole way through (Thank you to the Chicago Public Library System for being large enough to have all of them!) and I must say I enjoyed them. There were a few low-and-slow spots, and Wilson isn't the most colorful writer out there, but like King, even when he switches on the auto-pilot for a chapter or five, he's still quite readable. My personal highlights were The Keep (the first) and Nightworld (the last). He also co-wrote a graphic novel based on The Keep as he was unhappy with the film. I'm looking forward to finding that when I've the time.

I've also read two of the non-Adversary Repairman Jack novels, which are okay in their own right.

And for you vampire-lovers out there, he's got Midnight Mass. Seriously - Pick. It. Up.

Thnaks Jack. Trouble is, you really don't see him around that much. I've been to Forbidden Planet to try to track down the rest of the adversary cycle. (i've read about half of them.) I'll keep an eye out for the Midnight Mass books you recommend. Is it a series? Would you try your hand at a review? With Vampired being very much in vogue, it would be nice to get people talking about this underated (IMO) author.

What kind of horror writer is he ? His rated stories ?

I have heard his name now and then.

No, it's a single piece, but more could be told if Wilson wants too. It's been a good five years since I've read it, and when I read it again (which won't be too long) I'll be sure to post a review. I'm a bit hazy on a number of things, so I won't botch an attempt as of right now. I will say this: you will not find any of the recent "like, oh my God, he's, like, a hot vampire, and I'm, like, an outcast, or whatever!" crap in this book.

His works vary from vampires, to ancient demons (Western and South Asian) to mutilation & dismemberment, to the most basic good vs. evil; light vs. dark. If you're up for a quick read, check him out.

The Keep I read it when it first came out, wonderful novel , too bad the film didn't live up to it.
