Try his Parmenion series starting with the Lion of Macedon and the sequel is called Dark Prince. Very good stuff.

The Troy series was by far one of the best series Gemmell has written and I applaud his wife for finishing the last book for him when he passed away. MAJOR loss to the fantasy community.

So Troy was in a way like David's farewell gift to us all, wasn't it?

It's funny, but I only heard of Gemmel from Troy. I actually bought n read Volume III (Fall of Kings) first, n then Volume I (Lord of The Silver Bow), n finally Volume II (Shield of Thunder).

I'll be progressing backwards, or retrogressing, to his earlier works gradually, I think. Just to have some feel of the way the great man evolved as a writer.

Perhaps Stella would consider taking up the baton from him. She did pretty well finishing off 'Fall of Kings' for him, didn't she?

He is more notable for the Druss and Drenai books, but check out the Rigante series, first book is Sword in the Storm, very good.

Now I recall it. I bought a Gemmel book about a couple of months ago. That name Skilgannon, which the guys are mentioning in these threads about Gemmel, now I think it was him in the story.

I couldnt finish reading it that time.

Somehow I've misplaced the book somewhere. Trying to look for it again now.
