King of the Elves is a Disney film?

I can't see how they can fail to make a hash of it.

Lets face it, none of the 'Elves' impersonators can match the hip gyrations of the real thing, so who are they going to get to play the lead role?:)

I was reading the Disney release line-up and, at first, I thought I misread the news. Disney doing Philip K Dick (the title of my thread until I realized someone already posted this!). I haven't had the chance to actually read the short story source, which was one of his few stabs at the conventional fantasy genre, but Disney must have felt the brief literary piece held something that would be popular with audiences.

In truth, I will probably at least rent the film when it comes out regardless of the reviews. Mr. Dick hasn't received the greatest movie treatment, afterall (i.e.: Paycheck), and I have checked those out as well being a long time reader of his novels.

I had a copy of Beyond lies the Wub and I can't remember this story! Still...

I suppose, whatever the quality, this film will bring attention to Dick's versatility. Hollywood perceives him as the 'wobbly reality' guy and- though that's a fair part of his shtick- there's a whole lot more to Phil's oeuvre.

And if its a big hit with the kids then they'll probably grow up to read Ubik! Everyone's a winner!

You may be right; but the film is, I think, an animation, not live action (so the lead rôle would be taken by a pencil**:)).

** - Well, a computer-based "pencil".

* Goes away to think up puns about computer leads.... *
