Though the chances are slim since the franchise was raped by FOX and its AVP series, what would eveyrones ideal alien 5 be?

Well, there's always the possibility of Ripley settles down "again" get pregnant, and her kid does the species thing. thats pretty much all they have left unless they pull the NEW world, with another crashed ship on it and a new group gets the infection starting all over. perhaps this time with the predator strain instead of unaltered. I think they over-milked the series to put the 4th one out there. The AvP could have, and probably should have stopped with the one installment. but thats just my opinion on it.

I'd like to see the Aliens take over the earth as they did in the Steve Perry novelisation of the Dark Horse comics. That was such an awesome story. Very exciting.

Lets show the aliens as the domininant species.

A movie that never sees the light of day!

Scully: I want the answers, I've already seen the truth.
Mulder: Beats me, I've never seen it before either.
Scully: I don't know, is it some kind of synthetic protein?
Mulder: A living extraterrestrial biological entity?
Scully: I need to do a full medical examination. You'll be interested to know I've ordered some genetic tests.

Thanks for that link clovis-man, I liked all the other comments there, especially the one:
Mysticdog: Finally! We will finally get to see where Ripley's cargo ship came from, and what it picked up! We'll finally know who didn't get their stuff when Ripley blew up the freighter! I'll finally be able to sleep!
:)

Not sure if there'll be an Alien 5, but a new Predator is in the making. Takes place on an alien world instead of ours.

As it is not yet in the can, it's not certain that it will be rubbish.

(But there's a pretty good chance that it won't be good, unless there is something truly fresh in the script.)

As long as it is a true prequel and not another restart (some of the restarts I've really liked but there is a limit) I'll hope for the best for now.

There'd be some scope to try and explain how they live on their homeworld. I assume they'd have the same life cycle so they're killing some creatures but enough need to live to keep a balance, so that's likely to be some tough competitors/prey. Meeting humans must have been like Christiano Ronaldo going back to play in the under 15's.

Scott 'to direct Alien prequel'

Taken from the BBC news website today…

Director Sir Ridley Scott is to direct a prequel to seminal sci-fi horror film Alien, according to reports.
Trade newspaper Variety said the 71-year-old would return to the franchise he began in 1979 with actors Sigourney Weaver and John Hurt.
Sir Ridley, who is currently directing Robin Hood, has not made a sci-fi movie since Blade Runner in 1982.
He was not involved in the three Alien sequels or the two Alien vs Predator spin-offs.
It is thought the prequel will tell the story of the events leading up to the original film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship respond to a distress signal - only to discover it was generated by an empty ship that was meant to warn them.
The film will be written by Jon Spaihts, who has also penned Keanu Reeves' space film project Passengers, after he pitched his idea for the reboot to Twentieth Century Fox and Sir Ridley's production company.
Alien, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, won an Oscar for best visual effects in 1980.

I'm in. Ridley Scott is a Cinematic god as far as i'm concerned.

Not to mention GI Jane ;)

I'd expect a prequel would cover what happened to the ship that was wrecked on the planet. Might be interesting if that ship belonged to another alien race--the movie would have no humans in it at all.
