Annoying errors/continuity

Anyone else get a little bugged at the very silly mistakes that Feist makes? His spelling of names and places is all over the place at times. Why he dosen't get someone good to proof read is beyond me altogther. In his latest book RaDL, I think it's chapter 3 when he introduces Alystan the Natalese ranger whilst he's spying on Laromendis. He describes the weather and surrounding's and writes "as Spring arrives in Novindus" when it's quite clear he has them near the Grey Towers!! He mentions a Great One as being from the home world of Midkemia as opposed to Kelewan. One of the biggest shockers is in The Betryal when the Dwarven king Dolgin is talking to Gorath. He tells him that he's 528 years old, yet in RaDL he informs Alystan that he's "nearly 300 years old" That's quite a gap.

I'm not 100% but I think in Tear of the Gods, Sidi implies that he's around 250 years old. In RaDL, Amirantha mentions that he's around 100 years old. That's quite a difference for 2 brothers who learned magic together. Also with Macros who says that he's 500 years old but in WoaMG, when he dies in the Dasati body, the story goes something like "and the legendary sorcerer of nine hundred years dies". There are far more little things like this that really bug me:mad:

Rant over

Theres loads of 'mistakes' in Fiest's books, if you go to the forum page and look up Fiest in the author's section, try reading some of the comments from WoaMG or RaDL, other fans have pointed out some very basic errors. From what i've read, Fiest never proof reads his books and suffers froma form of Dyslexia. But to be honest, surely someone could proof read his books for him, man, i'd do it for free :).

I fully agree that these things are annoying. I am re-reading the riftwar books and find them to be so much better written than the newer books...It could be because he has nothing to reference and screw up...too bad that his publishers don't make someone edit them properly. Feist is still one of my favorites!

I completely agree that the continuous errors that occur throughout the later books completely ruin the great storyline that Feist has cooked up for us. If he only spent a few days rereading his books and analysing them with some form of notes, then the books would be a fantastic read, rather than a good read where you have to correct the storyline every five minutes

I agree, it's not really hard to keep notes such as -

Pug
Age -
Hair colour and length -
Body -
Family -

etc.

I've just finished reading the Krondor trilogy, and there was one thing in there that bugged me in terms of continuity.

When Jimmy and Gamina have their infamous meeting in 'Prince of the Blood', you get the impression that it's the first time they've met.

But in Krondor : The Betrayal, Gamina pops in to give Gorath the truth scan, with Jimmy in attendance.

Gamina is described as being roughly sixteen in KtB, so she wouldn't quite be a full grown woman yet, so maybe Jimmy just wasn't looking. But I got the feeling that their eventual attraction in PotB was based on some kind of mental / emotional bonding, along the lines of "true love is recognizing your soul's other half in another".

It's been a while since I read PotB, so I may be remembering it wrong...
