Following his very enthusiastic review of my short story collection The Gift of Joy, Gareth D Jones tracked me down for an interview, which is now available online:

The Science of Fiction: The Editors: Ian Whates

In it I talk about my writing, setting up a small press publisher, and even offer a little advice to would-be writers (Huh! Me, offer advice?).

It's really not worth bothering with, but I thought I might as well mention it.

If I would post a press release with that headline, my other half working in publicity circles would beat with her handbag. I read it, and I agree with commentators, it's good.

Ian's just being his normal shy, self-depreciating self, ctg - he's a real shrinking violet in real life, always fading into the background...:p

You know me so well, Py!

Thanks, ctg. I've conducted many interviews before and have been interviewed myself in front of an audience, but this is the first time an interview of me has appeared in print/online, which is an interesting experience.

Very nice, Ian.

I am so glad "The Gift of Joy" is doing well. You deserve it!

Pyan; I am confused, Ian, shy? We are talking about the same person aren't we??;)
