What three characters would you like to invite to a dinner party? I asked this before, but the thread got taken in The Great Thread Purge of '08.:) I say just three, in addition to yourself, to make it different from last time.

The Great Thread Purge of '08 was a very scary time. :(

My three would of course be Harry, Ron and Hermione. :D

EDIT: OH LORD I just realized that this is in the GRRM Forum. I have never read a GRRM book in my life. I'll leave my response though so everyone can see my embarrassing mistake.

lol, HP, Ron and Hermione would not be very helpful in decoding Westeros politics! Wizardcraft would certainly change the dynamics of the Game of Thrones, but it would be fun to have a demo!:) I wonder if they could help stop the Others?

Littlefinger, Tyrion and Varys would be insanely entertaining :)

Just three guests?? I remember at one point we speculated who you go drinking beer with.

I suppose Vargo Hoath, Roose Bolton and Strong Belwas would not make for very good company.

In that case, if I wanted a good time, I would go with Tyrion, King Robert and a Dothraki khalasar (as described in Dany's wedding feast).

If I wanted more serious dinner conversation, I would go with people like Barristan the Bold, Doran Martell and throw in Tyrion to spice it up.

PB, Tyrion and Varys would likely be witty and illuminating, Imp.

It would be hard to resist Jaime, Tyrion and Oberyn for a contest of wits.

There are the party animals like Great Jon and King Robert, the Dothraki and the Iron Men.

If you wanted to know what is going on, maybe PB, Lady Olenna and Varys, but you would have to pat them all down to make sure they are not concealing Tears of Lys.

There could be a Mad Hatter's Tea Party! King Aerys, Lysa and Viserys. Make sure there are no moon doors or cauldrons.

For a sure death, Gregor, Stoneheart and Walder Frey?

To really know what's going on, Barristan the Bold, Howland Reed, and Aemon?

And last time somebody really wanted Jiri and oh, the other one, I can't imagine why!

I think I would like to have Lady Olenna and the Stark girls to do some sort of psychological intervention.

For a mystery party, Melisandre, Cold hands and Jacquen (how do you spell it?)

Jaqen H'ghar.

Eulalia, it was Irri. And I'm glad you chose Irri and not Renly. It is known.

Littlefinger has poisoned at least two people (through intermediaries, of course), but I would not want him anywhere near my dinner.

Also, I'd not want Walder Frey hosting the dinner.

At first glance, this thread looks fairly light hearted... but who you choose depends upon what you want to get back. For myself, I'd like information.

Specifically, I'd like to know...

What was the nature of Rhaegar's relationship with Lyanna?

Who are Jon Snow's parents?

Is Dany barren? (I think this goes to the heart of TPTWP.)

Did Aerys have any extramarital relations? Did he rape anyone besides his wife?

What are the connections between The Prince That Was Promised and Azor Ahai Reborn?

What was the sequence of interpretations of TPTWP that Aemon and Rhaegar went through?

The people who hold the most information regarding these critical events leading up to and during Robert's Rebellion are Maester Aemon, Varys, Howland Reed, Eddard Stark, Maester Pycelle, Barristan Selmy, Jon Connington, Jaime Lannister, and Ashara Dayne. I know that's more than three people, so I'll narrow it down.

Ashara is supposedly dead. But I suspect her knowledge can be covered by Varys, Connington, and Selmy. Mainly Connington... I suspect she and he were involved to get Aegon out of KL. She may have faked her death to join Connington in raising Aegon.

Connington may be dead... or not. I also suppose that what he knows is also known by Varys.

Jaime was not as close to Rhaegar as Barristan, Ashara or Connington. He's already spilled most, if not all, of his secrets to Brienne.

Eddard... Ned's dead, baby. Ned's dead.

Barristan knows what Jaime knows. He probably knows or could make excellent guesses as to the knowledge that Ashara and Connington possess.

Pycelle knows alot, but Varys knows everything Pycelle knows plus a LOT more.

Varys... the mysteries and enigmas of Aegon, Lyanna, Rhaegar, Aerys II, plus many more are within his brain.

Aemon knows Targaryen family history intimately. He was also in regular correspondence with Rhaegar concering TPTWP. Of course we now know his dying thought was Dany=TPTWP, but I'd really like to know what Rhaegar thought regarding TPTWP.

Howland Reed knows THE secret. But I suspect that if a person could access the secrets of Varys, Aemon, and Barristan, then I think a person could accurately guess Reed's secret.

So my answer is Varys (for the secrets of Aegon, Aerys, and R+L), Aemon for the secrets of R+L and TPTWP), and Barristan (for the secrets of Aerys and Rhaegar).

Edit: Pyar, I forgot to say that your post cracked me up.

Littlefinger, Tyrion and Varys would be insanely entertaining :)

You might have picked mine right there. Baelish is a shoe-in for me, with Tyrion right behind. Robb I think would be fun as well.

But I'd be tempted to just have 3 of the ladies over and serve plenty of wine, hehe.

Would be kinda funny to have Robb and Joffrey over, seat them at opposite ends at the table and forget about the third guest. I could just imagine neither of them touching any of the food and just staring each other down over the table.

"Well... I bet you both feel a little silly now, don't you boys?"

But in reality I have no idea who I would pick. Three names is too many for me because I don't know which characters would complement each other well enough for it to be a good night but not so much that I feel out of place. I can imagine that if I had the Greatjon, Robert Baratheon and pre-brotherhood Thoros over for dinner then I'd quickly get left behind as far as drinking goes.

Can't I just change the rules and have dinner for two with Meera?

Ghost, sure! Meera seems like an honest choice! If you add Illirio's head chef and a server with strict instructions to make themselves scarce, then... there you are!

Oh yes, thanks Boaz, Irri! And...Jhiqui? It's not my idea of a good time, but someone said it last time, and I thought it was funny! And if there were a poll, I'm sure there would be a lot of votes.

Renly eh? Hey he was probably a good conversationalist. For a truly awkward dinner, how about Renly, Loras and Brienne?

How about a Selfless dinner to earn your angel wings. You could invite Ned, Catelyn, and Robb. Or Lyanna, Rhaegar and Jon? Brings tears to my eyes!

Friday the 13th dinner, Biter, Rorge, and the Tickler.

BFF dinner...Lyanna, Asha, Mya Stone

I would invite Sarella, the Royce daughter, and Tyrion. They seem to be the most fun and individually entertaining characters in the book. I think that party would be well worth it.

Or, I might invite Satin, Loras, and Renly. You never know. :p

Sarella is an inspired choice! So is Myranda(?)Royce.

Oh yes, it would be nice to reunite Tyrion and Tysha. Not very sociable, but it might repair some wrongs.

I take it Boaz likes Dacey! Would that we could arrange it!

I think someone needs to remind me who Sarella and Myranda Royce are. I remember the names but can't put them to any character that I'm familiar with.

Also, Meera is superior.

It'd take you and Walder Frey to do it.

Sarella is the fourth eldest of the Sand Snakes, Oberyn's ******* daughters. She was absent from Dorne when Doran ordered the arrests of her sisters... it's said she's in Oldtown. Many surmise that she may Arellas the archer friend of Pate. Yes, Arellas is a male acolyte of the Citadel. But their ages are the same... and Arellas is Sarella spelled backwards. Also, the other acolytes call Arellas "the Sphinx." Remember that Aemon whispered to Sam that "The Sphinx is the riddle" or "the answer"... I forget.

Lady Myranda Royce is a daughter of Lord Nestor Royce, head of the lesser branch of Royce's. Littlefinger bought off Nestor to aid him in resisting the Lords Declarant. Myranda chatted with Sansa on her descent from the Eyrie. She appears like a spoiled gossip queen, but it's probably an act to throw people's suspicions off... sorta like Columbo.

I don't think Walder would work with me, after I slapped his face, kicked him in the shins, and stomped on his toes. As a modern female, that is pretty much the extent of my aggressive powers, and I would only wind up in the dungeon.

Well Myranda also seems to have a heart of gold, and a free hand with the favors, if you know what I mean. My favorite kind of guest!
