The Secret
Location: Mount Kailash- The Right Side of Satya.

The four Yaksha administrators had been summoned at long last. There was a time when they were virtually living in Shivlok, until things changed, and the gates became a memory; a legend that no one really believed in. They had left the icy sanctuary of the one known as Shiva the Destroyer to head back to their realm. Now, eons later, they had been summoned again. Tall, extremely fair, with long bony faces and sinewy torsos, the ageless Yakshas had a handful they needed to do in order for the frozen silver gates to garner power, either to open the path to Shivlok or for regulating the surges in the streams of Satya. Breathing laboriously, bellowing out huge bursts of condensed air into the falling flakes of snow, they climbed the remaining silver stairs from the middle reaches of Mount Kailash to its icy peaks gingerly. Presently, they hurried into the Gorge leading to the gates.

The narrow Gorge was fortified by the white walls of the icy mountain shooting skyward, higher than the eye could see. Behind them were the stairs known as silver steps and ahead of them the silver gates. The senior-most of the administrators was the first to approach the ice caked gates, which was barely visible in the heavy snow. He touched one of the myriad light greyish glyphs indented into its silvery surface purely out of reflex, surprised that he could still remember the exact glyph…after all the eons.

Three levels of glinting panels slid smoothly out from a hidden chamber on each gate, rectangular and sturdy. Each panel had myriad dials, black needles on white panels. The Yakshas were focusing on the dials, their eyes rushing from one needle to the other on each dial. The needles denoted power surges in the various strata in the streams of Satya; not that they could control the power surges, the needles were merely indicators so the Yakshas could do what they were trained for, which was to regulate and channelise the power so it would empower the gates and at the same time not split the sturdy mountain in two. The Gates were earthing nodes for the energies of Satya to channelize and manifest themselves. The Yakshas noticed that the needles were already showing beyond the half way mark, indicating tremendous power surges.

The Yakshas, from the
Yilkhsagiri Mountain realms in the peripheries of the Right Side of Satya, were nature spirits and guardians of rare natural treasures. They could be broadly classified as dwellers of the caves, dark, huge and gentle giants and Skimmers of the peaks, living on the highest reaches of the snow swept mountain range. The skimmers were fair and sinewy, with white hair and piercing gaze, like the ones trudging around, muttering under their breath and peering about in apparent doubt.

The four Yakshas administered and managed entry into Shivlok from Mount Kailash. That was their duty, their previlige, a reward even, for something they’d done a long time ago. They controlled and garnered power from the streams of Satya. In the olden days, the doors were opened for Transients and visitors, beings moving from a plane of existence into another, some through the gateway of mortality and others because they had crossed beyond mortality into awareness. There were no more transients or visitors into Shivlok. Right from the time of the Age of Kal, things had changed, slowly but surely, irrefutably. Dark times were looming large, like dreaded black clouds of metal rain from the Void, capable of wiping out civilizations. The silver gates were not administered anymore. They were guarded by Asura warlords, looking out for those sinister travelers influenced by, well, the other side. The Guards were in constant vigil for them. It always paid to be careful, especially in times like this.

Raakshas were crossing over from the Void. In all their experience, the Yaakshas had never heard of Raakshas heading into Creation on their own. They had to be invoked. The crossings signified a deep malaise, maybe the weakening of the eighteen gateways of Creation into Void; maybe the nava grahans
, the nine sentinels guarding the eighteen gateways were becoming powerless. Maybe creation itself was folding on itself.

The elemental locks of Asatya were failing too and the Legend of Kroni may yet come to pass and bring with it the end of everything. It was common knowledge that when Kroni was freed from Asatya, the other side, he will destroy creation. It was also openly known that humans were responsible for the weakening elemental locks. Isolated from the rest of creation by their own doubt and denial, living their own petty existences, the humans were destroying the Seventh World by exploiting her and digging into her core. Elements such as stones and metal, considered precious by the Earthlings were being plundered. The humans had not as yet realized that the elements maintained the valency of the planet. A weakened Earth was in turn affecting the other worlds of power, imbalancing the valencies.

The administrators were nervous that day and it was not because of the deeper malaise affecting creation or even the weakening of the elemental locks. Some places were protected from all of these; one of them was Mount Kailash within the Right Side of Satya. The very scent of the air foretold momentous happenings yet to unfold, not sometime in the distant future but right then, right there. It sent shiver after nervous shiver into the administrators.

“Dial six zero ninety” one of them pointed out in a quavering voice. The others craned their heads up towards the panel almost in unison.

“Manifestation!” he exclaimed.
“Are you sure? The energy levels are not optimized.”
“Yes, but we are getting extra power. See the vortex in the skies. It’s right above the doorway. I think the energy levels are going to be optimized very soon.”
“Then open Thirty one and Seventy eight, we need to garner this energy. Come on, move, or have you forgotten what to do?”
“At once Sire.”
“And prepare yourself, whatever it is; it’s going to happen now!”

The administrators armed themselves with huge scythes with short wooden hilts hanging from a rawhide loop around their taut hips, armour that covered their chest and midriff and activated the
sarva dristiwheel, the chakra that enabled them to see in all directions at will.

The stoic Asura guards of Shivlok were standing watch. Olive skinned, with large glowering eyes and rippling muscles, they were holding heavy machetes casually. They were creatures of tremendous power and might, chosen to guard Shivlok as a token of appreciation. They stood by the silver doors like silent demons, speaking to no one and no one daring to speak to them. One of the administrators noticed a single bead of sweat trickling down behind the ears of the younger Asura. He did not show any other sign of nervousness.

______________________________

At that moment, the administrators and the guards shifted their gaze skywards to ogle at the surge of power building up within the vortex high above them. It was like a furious sea in the sky, clouds glistening with electricity, like massive waves in a sea-storm, throwing out sleek spears of silver in all directions to the accompanying clashes of thunder. All of a sudden, a bolt of raw red hot energy came streaking down from the silvery vortex.

Now, unlock the cavity and regulate the surge.”

In seconds, the bolt struck exactly at the centre of the silver gates and disappeared into a cavity the size of a coin that had snapped open just in time. Zigzag streaks of energy snaked their way into the intricately designed locks of the gates making the needles on all dials hit full capacity for one miniscule moment before they flipped completely the otherway, indicating total power drain.

The silver gates came to life and shuddered. A massive rumble sounded itself out. The Asura Guards, facing the silver steps till then, turned around to face each other from either side of the gates. Gradually the gates began swinging into Mount Kailash. Icy winds were blowing at tremendous speed through the widening gap of the opening gates. Shrill whistles of wind were replaced by howls as the gap between the gates widened. Bone-chilling air careened through the gates as though it were a convict escaping its prison at long last.

A luminescent orb materialized just inside Shivlok. Growing in size it became a fiery golden mushroom. Its skin grew thinner as much as it grew bigger and brighter until it was almost a miniature sun with rays of light that had penetrated the skin shooting out in different directions. The orb exploded to the accompaniment of a million chimes, like a magical alarm clock. From within the golden illumination a gigantic figure emerged. When they saw him, the administrators paled; the appearance of the Bull God only confirmed their earlier suspicions. The administrators were by now bowing, partly because it was impossible to look atLord Nandeswar and partly because their knees had gone weak with trepidation.

The Giant God, white as driven snow, crossed the threshold of Sivalok into Mount Kailash in two massive strides, holding his lengthy trident as though it were a twig. Flakes of loose snow unfurled themselves lazily around his feet. He stopped just short of the silver steps leading down to Mount Kailash, threw his horned bull’s head back against the skies and bellowed once. Fire rippled out of his nostrils as tongues of orange. Nandeswar looked hither and thither, as though daring anyone who may to deter his authority.

Energy crackled forth again from the vortex in the skies, drawing the attention of the administrators and guards away from the Bull-God. An orb of soothing radiance materialized just beyond the silver gates. The administrators bolted for the Silver doors. They threw themselves at the controls, pushing levers and yanking at wheels to release unused reserves of energy to facilitate the manifestation. The energy levels to port another manifestation had to be released. The Yakshas were petrified. If there were two manifestations, two Gods detaching themselves from the streams of Satya, it could only mean one thing.

Dire threat!

The orb of luminance was by now floating down into Mount Kailash. The radiance of the orb did not suggest the angry impatience that precursored the arrival of Nandeswar. It was burnished, replete with harmony. A quiet peace overtook the aggression of the guards and the apprehensions of the administrators. The golden orb quivered within, like it was made of plumes of light. Its luminance was increasing a hundred fold and yet the ensemblage were able to gaze into the very core of the light. All of a sudden, the light imploded upon itself to reveal a boy. The Yakhas gasped!

Kanda
!

His features were sharp and his brown eyes were intelligent. He was all of five feet in height but his very bearing made him appear to tower over everyone. He wore a swirling way-stee made of silk around his midriff. The garment was wrapped around the waist. The front of the flowing garment was then gathered between his legs and pushed down the small of his back. The ensuing swirls fell down to his toes. A glowing crown of intricate design was perched firmly on his head. He was bare-chested except for a strip of silk vastra that was fluttering from around his neck. The boy was smiling at the essemblage and his smile only enhanced the warmth that had gradually replaced the biting cold of Mount Kailash.

“Nandi, come..!” beckoned the boy in a melodious voice. Nandeswar rushed forward. He knelt obediently by the young God, his shoulders hunched in homage. Even then, the massive Bull-God overshadowed the boy.

“My Lord Kanda”, Nandeswar rumbled, as softly as he could. Still, his voice was like thunder clashing against iron.

The boy opened the palm of his hand. A tubular container materialized, fizzing with runnels of energy. Golden hued it was, emblazoned with rivulets of violet that streaked across its smooth surface. The tube was as wide as a young bamboo trunk. One end of the tube was rounded off and the other end had a cap that vaguely resembled a top hat. The carving on the cap was intricate and beautiful. A fierce creature with a Dragon’s head and the body of a snake was snarling at a warrior.

“It is time to call for the first of the nine. Dear Nandi, you must deliver the prophecies to him.”

“My Lord, his penance is complete and I have kept a vigil over him. He has fought many foes and has hungered for redemption. Many a time have I pleaded for mercy but there was no reply from the streams. I am glad his time is here. I shall send the Axe-bearer to call him in.”

“The Asura is about to resurrect and it is for the one who is four to tame him and find the readers.”

“The readers! How can they find the readers?”

“The Daitya and Aditya should be able to seek the readers…one will be the foil and the other the finder and they shall use the Prophecies.”

But that’s impossible!’ thought the administrators as one. Daityas and Adityas are sworn enemies.’

The Bull-God rose to his full height. He offered his salutations to Kanda. Turning around smartly, Nandeswar walked into the same fiery illumination from whence he had come. The Boy smiled benevolently.

“Thank you my Yaksha friends for heeding the call and being here.”

The Administrators fell to their knees.

“My Lord, we are here to serve you.”

Golden light cocooned Kanda yet again and in a blaze of colour he became one with the energy streams.

That's a big post. For me it was a little hard on the eyes but then I may be the exception.

I did find a few weird concepts 'sturdy mountain' seem a little odd why is Gorge capitalised.

The needles denoted power surges in the various strata in the streams of Satya; not that they could control the power surges, the needles were merely indicators so the Yakshas could do what they were trained for, which was to regulate and channelise the power so it would empower the gates and at the same time not split the sturdy mountain

If they can't control anything then what's all this regulation business that stops the mountain being ripped apart?

Sorry, there were some other points however, given the size of the post it was too much to wade through.

Hope ths little bit helps.

Hi,
I am sorry it was hard on your eyes. I worked on the formatting and made it into smaller paragraphs with sufficient space in between to ensure that they are easy to read!

Secondly, the capital letter for Gorge was a honest mistake. I thought I'd said the needles were mere indicators to enable to Yakshas to regulate the flow of energy. Maybe I should make that clearer.

Thanks for the quick response.
