Alright, so I have another. This one involves the main character in a, somewhat, futuristic world where people can voluntarily place themselves in suicide "machines" if they chose to do so, and said machines are displayed publicly, since they are nothing more than small kiosks in which the user can sit down and push a button. I don't mean the suicide can be viewed by anyone, but if you walk into it anyone can see you go into it. I believe the one the protagonist used at the end of the book was nothing more than a kiosk with a shotgun rigged to fire with the push of a button, though.
I believe that another part of the same book, though, is mind transfers, or body swapping. It might be a different book, but I continuously think of them together. The protagonist himself has had his memories and the like placed in a different body. I also repeatedly remember a scene, set in the south, in which a pre-teen/teenage boy fills a cracked bowl with food and brings it out to a "zombie", of sorts, hiding nearby. He's in hiding because something about him enrages the residents of the town. I believe he has also been involved in the swapping of bodies/minds. I think the boy knew the "zombie" before he became what he was, whatever that might just be.
I also remember something about body traffiking; A body that is to be used for said transfers is placed in a transport carrying meat so as to avoid detection. Apparently, the body swapping isn't quite legal.
Now, this book (or books, possibly) was also read when I was much younger than I am now, and I don't remember alot of it. I've been searching through countless areas involving body swapping and mind transfers as well as suicide machines
