Silly Author Person
Where does the time go?
I am barely accepting that the month of August is already upon us, and soon the little urchins who have been hanging out on the computers at the library will be hanging out doing homework.
My carpal is still trying to get the better of me. I have not done art in a couple of months now, hoping it will ease up. I cannot play harp easily. I cannot fence...
About the only thing I can still do is type. I use the mouse left-handed now.
But my healer made a recommendation that I go to an osteopathy clinic up at a local university since they have non-invasive methods (no surgery) of dealing with carpal. So I am going to look into that, especially since I need my right hand functional to sign autographs... ;-)
We're still sitting on 61 signees agreeing to prepay my publisher to help get Wandering Lark into print.
It's starting to depress me since it has been almost a year since I started asking people to do this, and I know there have to be more than 61 people who want to read this book.
If I don't get those last 39 before Archon in October, I will have to give up on getting it done through my publisher and probably end up printing it myself through Lulu. Something I didn't want to do because the stigma of self-publication (other than reprint materials) is something I had hoped to avoid.
It also means I will have to pay to get it into the distribution system so thousands of libraries who bought copies of book one will finally be able to get book two for their patrons who are asking about it.
*sigh*
But all that said and done, I will do it if I must, and I will still give the free novella to the 61 faithful who said they would gladly prepay just because I believe in keeping my promises.
So that's life as it is. Not necessarily as it should be, but I always get dealt those "almost famous" cards a lot.
Doesn't stop me from trying.
