Fierce Vowelless One
Well, I'm very close to this book so it is hard to review. It closes out the series very nicely. Without giving important spoilers - I can only say that the ending had me turning some pages!
I really liked what Mark did with this series - each character had their own issues and values examined and worked through. Even though the dragons were much more self-possessed than the kids, they had some working through and growing to do as well which is something we can all learn from.
The sub-plot with the WWII pilot was nicely considered with an interesting twist at the end. No, I'm not telling! You'll have to buy the book!
Really, I can't say much about the book without spoilers other than you will definitely enjoy it if you have read the others, and don't start the last third of the book if you have to go to bed soon ;-) And if you haven't read the others, what are you waiting for? This is a terrific series for the young set and us old folks can enjoy them too. Did I mention there are dragons? Oh, and someone needs to tell the publisher to get them published in the US. People over here need good books too! I would never have encountered them (or Mark) if I hadn't been a part of this forum.
This book also gave me the chance to meet Mark and his lovely family in person. He is just as nice as he seems here on the forums. I'm not just being nice, they really are lovely in all the definitions of the word.
Oh, and he has another series in the works! Oh, yeah, you guys already knew that!
So, to end my not so great review here - buy the books for your kids and read them yourself too. It's good stuff, truly!
