Karen's certainly a popular writer in the US, though she's never enjoyed the same sort of success in the UK and is more or less resigned to not being popular in her native country.

I wrote a brief article and did a very mini interview on her a few years back for Matrix magazine, at a time when one of her Star Wars novels had just topped the New York Times' best seller list -- not her first book to do so.

I think it's fair to say that Karen does what she does very well; whether that's to your individual taste, who can say?
