It's been a while since I was able to test my creativity here, and an even longer time since I last started a thread up here, so I thought I'd start up a little challenge.

It's quite simple: all you have to do is think up a little piece of poetry or prose, but the catch is that it must have either 3, 5 or 7 lines. It doesn't have to rhyme, nor is there a limit on how many words or syllables you can have per line. It doesn't have to involve fantasy, SF or horror elements, either, but if it does, so much the better.:)

Also, if you find yourself getting carried away with the piece, you can always do more than one verse - as long as it's got either 3, 5 or 7 lines.;)

For example:

Whimsical muse, why do you torment me?
Teasing me with hints and ideas that fade as quickly as mist.
Toying with me and my imagination.

Or:

Strands woven into Fate's great loom
Are fraying at the edges.
An outside influence is warping life
And challenging the heavens.
The gods gear up for war
Against their unknown foe,
But what will result of their fight?

I'll try and think up a 7 line poem and post it later on.:)

A walk along the seashore this morning,
came upon a gull no longer soaring.
Was caught in a fisherman's net,
it's flight above the strand interupted.
Like every living thing, left to twist in the wind.

I like that one, Sparrow.:)

Ok, as promised, here's my attempt at a 7 line poem:

Riding a falling star, she comes,
To see her lover upon the Earth.
Surrounded by the dark of the night,
And watched over by the moon,
They meet to renew their love.
Fully aware of the consequences,
Both mortal and goddess choose their own destinies.

A lone wolf howls it's lonely cry
Across the valley, the lights go out, one by one
A child with eyes black as night
Attracts the eyes of passing girls
And why are you hear so late, they ask
A smile spreads across the childs face
A long time ago I may have answered, he says, his fangs growing long

OR
Don't you see?
Enter and your doom awaits!
Accept this, and come back to me.
This house has many gates,
Hear me, and I will be your key.

Not Shakespear, but I like it!:D
