Hi, I am a huge fan of Sword and sorcery, and works just like the Drenai series. I have completed nearly all of the drenai books except the Sword of the night and day and Winter warriors. (I don't really wanna read them and finish them as fast as possible, because I feel so excited still being in the Drenai world).
I became really sad when i realized that there are only 11 books in the Drenai series. I just hoped that it would be much longer, but unfortunately this was not the case. My wish is that his wife could write some more books and stories which would take place in the drenai world, or compile some unfinished(If there is) works and make something like Christopher Tolkien did with the Children of hurin or Silmarillion.

I have two questions for you out there.

1. Would books like Dark Moon and Rigante series be something good for me to read if I really liked the Drenai saga style of writing, or would it completely differ in writing and Fantasy style? I am looking for something "Sword and sorcery" related.

2. Is there any fan work or stories made by someone that takes place in the Drenai world?

Thank you.

Hi Riazy, welcome!
1. His writing does not falter most of the time so you can be assured of the quality of it. Dark Moon is very good and the Rigante series is excellent. He should have carried on with the Rigante series (IMO) like the Drenai series that's how good it is. You will enjoy these books a lot if you like his Drenai saga. You should read Sword of the night and day and Winter warriors they are awesome too, don't worry about rushing it, I am sure you will re-read them again. You should try his stand alone novels as well, they are no detraction from his writing skills. Echoes of the Great Song is pretty good, his Troy series is excellent and sadly he did not finish the last book but thank goodness his wife could. I have not read them all but they are highly praised. Try his Greek series with the character Parmenion - The Lion of Macedon, also a good read.

2. I don't think any other author has written in the world of the Drenai saga. Most likely won't either. The sad thing of course is that DG is not alive anymore but at least his works are complete (I think) unlike Robert Jordans series.

Go for the Rigante series next, you will not be sorry! All his books are enjoyable though if you want to give the Drenai series a rest.

I'd gladly recommend any of DG's work, all his work follow a similar easy to read premise. I've read all his books except his Ross Harding release and along with what Biodriod has posted I would also recommend the Jon Shannow/Jeruselum Man triolgy. All his book are 'heroic fantasy' with a light migical inclusion. Hope you enjoy reading them.

As to if other writers have published Drenai based books, then as far as I'm aware No!
