A fairly new author I've never come across before, I bought the Rhapsody trilogy earlier today out of sheer impulse, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about her if they might know something?

I read the series 7 or 8 years ago and quite enjoyed it. There are some unexpected twists near the end too which are always kind of fun.

As far as her other stuff, I've read one of her kids novels, The Journal of Ven Polypheme (or something like that), which was very good.

I struggled with Rhapsody, that journey through the tree roots seemed endless. I put the other two aside and forgot about them. Then about a year ago I picked Rhapsody up and reread, found it more enjoyable second time round and went unto to finish the other two.As dwndrgn says there are some fun twists.

The series starts slow but picks up about 1/2 way through the first book. As for it being a trilogy, there are at least 5 books in the series if not more. I have read the first 4 and have #5 in my to be read pile. Lately I have not been reading any Fantasy, I'm stuck on Space Opera at this time. :)

Thanks, TE, wasn't sure where it belonged.

As for the whole thing, I've started up on Rhapsody and while it does seem to be a slow start, it's a pretty good story thusfar, even if her bits at the world's back history are rather shrouded and the first couple chapters obscure to this point.....

I've read all of the books in the series. I thought they were all good. Though I do remember dragging through that tree part. My biggest complaint is that I'm starting to get annoyed that Haydon keeps writing the young adult books when I want the next book in the series.

I recommend reading them though. I remember staying up late to finish one of the books. Lots of interesting parts and things you want to find out.

I find them entertaining for the most part. After I while I got tired of them but not because of the story. I actually like that part of it for the most part. But Rhapsody I just found a bit annoying after about four books. She's just "too perfect" to me. But the other characters I actually enjoyed.

None the less I would say it is worth reading in the end or at least get through the first set and see how you feel at that point.

i loved the first 3, arguably the greatest love story i have read in all of fiction. theres alot of closure at the end of the 3rd novel, so i didnt read the rest because i dont want my perception of the series to be ruined
