I'm looking for a story I read as a teen ager (about forty years ago) in which space aliens came to earth and began collecting cow pies. They wanted only very specific things, double whorls, etc. People began dealing these things, created an entire market, and so on. Then the aliens suddenly lost interest in cow pies and the whole bubble collapsed.

Story may have been written as early as the late forties, or as late as the mid sixties.

Does anyone know who wrote it, title, where to find a copy?

Thanks for your help!

Cow pies? That's gotta be either Simak, Bradbury, Tenn or Sheckley.

I'm afraid my mind went straight to Desperate Dan...:D

Thank you!

I'm trying to buy it as an e-book from Fictionwise if I can figure out their website.

Sorry about the wrong forum, I'm new to this site.
