Hi

I know nothing about graphic novels, except that my boyfriend likes them, so I want to buy him one for Christmas. He's French, and so usually reads in French; and I know his favourite series of French gaphic novels is Largo Winch. He's less a fan of superhero stuff and more things like (on TV for example) Alias, ie high drama and spy/intrigue stuff based in the 'real world'. Would anyone be able to recommend something that might suit, so that I could buy him his first graphic novel in English?

I'm not sure if there any compilations of the stories out there but I'd suggest getting hold of Metal Hurlant, known as Heavy Metal in English. It's an anthology magazine that's been around since the 70s, if I remember correctly, featuring highly influential sci-fi and fantasy art and stories.

Alors, The warrior's apprentice de Bujold viens de sortir en bande dessiné, mais je ne suis pas certain que ça a était traduit en Anglais encore…

Trouble is, here I see more French speaking ones than American.
