I recently bought the 3 disc 25th Anniversary CD of the Blade Runner Soundtrack. This has the original CD, plus additionally unreleased music on a second disc and a third disc containing some Vangelis music that was "Inspired by the film".

I really enjoyed it, but, is it me or was the New American Orchestra version much more faithfull to the movie? Don't get me wrong, i love the Vangelis release, but there were several tracks that i don't remember hearing in the movie. Perhaps i'm missing something because i only watch the original theatrical release?

I know that the original soundtrack CD that I have (the single disc Vangelis version) has both original score and 'inspired by' works. You've made me get the three CD version now though ;).

It's worth it if you like Vangelis and electronic music in general. Lots of Sampling to make it shound and feel Blade Runnerish, but i still think that it's not as close to the actual soundtrack as we'd like to believe. There's a hell of a lot of music that i just cannot remember as being in the film.

Let me know what you think when you get it Cyberpunkdreams?

I'm a huge fan of Vangelis. The music for the film was so atmospheric and haunting.

Well, of course you would like it Starbeast - you were in it! (Your Avatar that is). :D

Actually I'm a huge fan of Vangelis, but his early stuff was extremely repetitious. Any one have "China"?
