I love a lot of science fiction my favourite autho
Yesterday I began to think up assignments to improve my writing skills, and it was pointed out that others might like to join in. The writing, ofcourse, needs to have a sci fi/fantasy vain unless it's about grammar and punctuation. Here's a few to get you all started:

Assignments

1. Pick a picture from a magazine, and write a one page story about it.

2. Make up a name from a car number plate (it can't be your own), and write a five page piece on that character. It can be in any form.

3. Write a one word sentence, with correct punctuation and grammar.

4. Write an A-Z guide of all grammar and punctuation terms. You are not allowed to ask another person about this, you need to do your own research. If the information is on the internet then it must be hand written down, or typed out. This is so it goes into the brain, cheating will only be cheating yourself.

5. Make up a new monster, write its description and draw it if you are artistic.

6. Describe in detail the sunset of a two Sun planet.

7. Describe an inanimate object in a passionate way.

8. Write a timeline for a novel you have already read. Once done write one of your own story timelines.

9. Pick one adjective and see how many other ways you can describe the same thing without using other adjectives.

10. Copy out a paragraph from a book, without using spell checker or grammar checker. Now go back and check for mistakes. This is to improve your typing skills, and also eye to hand co-ordination.

Ok I must go and start doing number 2, have fun everyone.

I'll try number seven. The scifi here is that it takes place just after I've taken a shotgun blast to the face in a game of Halo. How's this? :)

Sweat glistened on the can of Red Bull. My hand slowly caressed her smooth, cylinder shape. My gaze lingered for long moments on the gentle slope of the blue and silver fields.

Letters of deep crimson stared back at me longingly. Text at the bottom of the can whispered sweet nothings about revitalizing body and mind. A measuring cup would have said she was eight point three ounces, but I’d have told her seven and a half, tops. My breath increased as my gaze lifted and found more text, Slightly Carbonated and Serve Chilled.

Temptation overcame my will and I popped open the top as though it were a bra snap. Our lips met in a fiery embrace. Caffeinated goodness flowed from the can to me.

She hadn’t lied, I felt a hundred times better as I pressed the button on my x-box controller and informed my team that I had respawned in the blue base and that we needed someone to protect our flag.

How about "Don't!"...?

Or "Please?"...?

Or "Sorry!"...

Danger!

Nada. (Or -- Zilch.)

Never!

Done.

And then ... well, any one of a number of expletives and insults I will not pollute this topic by mentioning.

Spoilsport.

(Ulp)

Help!

Lead by example, Cul. Inspire us with a brilliant exercise based on one of the other options.

Number 2:

Night - N 1 GHT (plus the obvious variations)

Grail - I found it in GRA 1 L

Okay, those were obviously made up, but this one isn't:

BIG 8735 - which is kinda like BIGGLES

Of course, by obsessive preference I might also make up one that says 8347LES, which could conceivably read Beatles

‘Hmmm?’
‘Brrrr...’
‘Mummm!’
‘Twit!’
‘Help.’
‘When?’
‘What!’

Jax 200, on her Nissan 200, and her/his name is....

Magazine photo: ‘Stunning.’

When the sun slipped below the tree-line, the temperature dropped alarmingly, but as soon as the second sun moved below the horizon, I followed it south. (and before anyone says, the sun sets in the south here.)

Steve:confused:

You know, Purds. I've been thinking. Is it really possible, physically, for a planet to be kind of bound to 2 suns?

I believe one of the suns would predominate over the other, and eventually pull the one planet over into its orbit permanently. Leaving the other sun without a planet.

Maybe Chris, our resident physicist, could shed more light on this.

Come on over, Chris! Woo hoo! You're required!

Will I do?...:p

Planet-Forming Disk Discovered Orbiting Twin Suns

The (study) results also confirm that such objects may just as easily form around double stars as around single stars like our Sun.

Planet-forming Disk Discovered Orbiting Twin Suns

They've also found a planet orbiting three suns...

First Planet Under Three Suns Is Discovered

An extrasolar planet under three suns has been discovered in the constellation Cygnus by a planetary scientist at the California Institute of Technology using the 10-meter Keck I telescope in Hawaii. The planet is slightly larger than Jupiter and, given that it has to contend with the gravitational pull of three bodies, promises to seriously challenge our current understanding of how planets are formed.
