I read a science fiction book in the late fifties /early sixties, possibly with the above title.
About the only thing I can remember about it is that it involved lemurs on an island off Africa, possibly Madagascar.
Does anyone else recollect it?
Bit obscure, I know, but I've searched long and hard in book shops and on the internet with no luck.

While I realize it is unlikely that Dave McKee might return and the details here are very limited, I think this might be Philip Wylie’s The Savage Gentleman.

It was first published in 1945 but reprinted in the 1950s. It is a Tarzan-sequel story about a boy raised on a “lost” Indonesian island festooned with ancient ruins and populated by giant, unknown lemurs.

It wasn't the David McKee who wrote Mr Benn, Not Now Bernard, and Elmer the Elephant? He sadly died in 2022.

All I wanted to say was that Lemurs are only found on Madagascar, but then if the island is a fantasy "lost" world that really doesn't matter anyway!

I'll mark this thread as a strong possible find.
