Wilum just informed me on Facebook that Joshi's website has been updated (after five years!) at a new URL, S. T. Joshi's Main Page . Lots of nice information on upcoming stuff there (such as his history of supernatural fiction).

Thanks for mentioning that; I'd been wondering when (or if) he was going to update.... I've taken a look, and -- good grief! STJ has always been insanely busy, but... does the man sleep at all? Or has he found a way to tap into the 248-hour day....?

Several of these projects are distinctly of interest to me (as is just about everything he has done over the years)... my problem will be in managing to obtain copies.... But more power to him, and I'm glad he has so much to say. My only concern is that sometimes I feel he has so many irons in the fire, that things slip through now and again which shouldn't; but in comparison to what I've gotten from his work, that (albeit a genuine concern) is a minor cavil indeed....

Have you ever met Joshi J.D. ? I know people who have attended talks given by him. That would be a bit of a highlight for me if I was ever to have that opportunity.

No, I haven't. I corresponded with him for about a year back around 1985-1986, but then my life sort of went haywire (including the birth of my daughter), and I lost touch. I hadn't even known when he was (as I as later informed) in this area doing research for his biography on HPL; I'd love to meet the man, but whether it will ever happen or not... who can say?

I will say that, from that correspondence and a very brief bit just in the last month or so (over a possible influence on one of HPL's tales), he is very generous with his time and encouragement.....

I hope that anthology of supernatural poetry (mentioned in the blog) sees the light of day. It would go straight to the top of my "want list". Strange that he sees Mythos as a potential publisher rather than Hippocampus, given how enterprising the latter has been in issuing weird verse.

It's interesting that he has written on racism, because one of the abiding blots on Amazon's name is that they have allowed some white supremacist dolt's reviews of Joshi's Lovecraft titles, in which the reviewer qualifies his reviews by pointing out that Joshi is married to a 'miscenegating' white woman. Miscegenation is an ugly word for a fallacious and harmful concept, I am shocked amazon hasn't removed these offensive reviews.

Everything he's working on seems interesting, and I note that he is owned by a fine assortment of cats as well!

I, too, was surprised that Mythos Books is publishing this. S. T. bought one of my sonnets for the book, and I was hoping for at least Penguin Classics....

That would have been neat! However, the last few Mythos Books volumes(the hardcovers) have looked pretty darn good. It's just a shame that their release rate is so slow.
