Does anyone have any idea how his story line is going to continue? He has been attached to alot of characters and is now in the company of Jaimie. I still have to re read some chapters but he has been making his rounds with some of our favorite and least favorite POV's...

Tom Sevenstrings, aka Tom of Seven Streams, seems to have some past history with Edmure. If you'll remember, Catelyn mentioned that a bard once stole a girl that Ed fancied and that he's hated bards ever since. This would explain Ed's reaction before Tom even started singing.

Oh yeah... there is a theory that Tom O'Sevens is actually Howland Reed in disguise. It's here in the forum somewhere. I personally don't buy it, but that's one thought.

Really? Didnt know that nor think about the possibility of disguise. Is Howland a skin changer or green dreamer? Either way he should be a master of either one. I really would like to see how his story unfolds as well, with him being 2 of 5 to live the fight, and the only remaining from the Tower of Joy.

We do know Howland is one hell of a fighter! Has it been mentioned about him being a mystery knight? His people lives on a moving island which would be hard to conquer as well. It's amazing how many dynamic characters George gives us to ponder and speculate about.

I dunno 'bout Howland. He's got all the information that Eddard did not give us...

1) Lyanna Stark. What was the exact nature of her relationship with Rhaegar? How did she die? What did Eddard promise her?

2) Ashara Dayne. What was the exact nature of her relationship with Eddard? Was her suicide due to Ser Arthur's death, Eddard's marriage, or Jon's departure with Eddard?

3) Wylla. She suckled both Edric Dayne and Jon Snow, but why her? What was her relationship with Eddard?

If these questions are answered by Howland, then we'll know exactly who Jon is.

You can find lots of speculation regarding Howland Reed in the thread "promise me, Ned" and "the value of Howland Reed".

Back to Tom, well, my only other thought (and this is absolutely crazy) is that he's already dead. Not undead like Catelyn, but murdered by a Faceless Man. I know it's ludicrous, but mayhaps Tom is actually been sent after Jaime, Jeyne, Robb's son, or the Blackfish.

Thanks for the Howland Reed thread reference, it's definately alot to sink my teeth in! As usual with reading through the details, i develop more theories. It's like the saying: "The more i find out, the less i seem to know!"

Yeah, i think Tom will have some kind of factor in the remaining books, if not, i could see him in the very last POV of "A Dream of Spring" creating the first song about everything we've read in ASOIAF that will be a best seller like "The Bear and the Maiden Fair":D

Hehehe yeah that was my crackpot theory about Tom being Howland. Largely based on Tom's stature and his continuing references to the old gods and children of the forest, largely a Stark and Reed issue. Crackpot, yes, but I still kinda feel it.

Tom is small, but not THAT small, is he? At any rate, I love a good crackpot theory if it isn't coming from an elected offcial or a "respected" newsperson.

added a missing S to newsperson

Imp, you're right as usual. I should shut down the new guy or push him down the old worn paths... I should let him follow his nose in pursuit of new ideas... Who knows? He may actually discover something!

We're kind of reaching a point where we either need ADWD or lots of new crackpot theories. The bright minds that post on this wonderful forum have pretty much disected all of the available material and I fear there isn't a lot left to discover
