Any thoughts on this writer ? Anyone here who have read him ?

I was pleasently surprised by his writing in The Steampunk Trilogy collection.

Seems to be a short story writer most, rated, nominted for shorter works.

My only experience of this author was "Jack Neck and the Worry Bird" in the Mammoth book of Extreme Fantasy and it was probably the weakest story in the entire collection in my opinion. Certainly hasn't made me want to check out any more of his work. Although I shouldn't write him off after one dodgy short story...

[EDIT] Actually, I also read "Providence" in the Solaris book of new SF volume 3 and that was quite good.

Ive read a few short stories. He also had a column in MoF&SF for years (may still have it, for all I know) called Plumage from Pegasus. Good column.

Most of his works seems to short story collections that share the same world like Steampunk collection. Maybe you should try one of those and see what he is about.

He appears to be a cult writer from what i have read about him. His novels, works seem so weird and not at all straight SF stories.

The writing, humor, characters in Steampunk collection made me think of weird SF stories from rated pulp era writers, tall tales Jorkens collection by Lord Dunsany.

I enjoyed his sequel to THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. Can't recall what the exact title was.
