One for those who like the Liaden Universe by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.

On the FAQ for LIAD faqliad

There is news that Baen books are publishing new Liad books and re-printing the originals in omnibus editions.

I think it's great! I've been reading Lee & Miller for several years now and I love their books. Waiting for my copy of Saltation which will come to me directly from them.

FYI, yesterday was their 32nd wedding anniversary. :D

I usually enjoy them too. They are a kind of SF lite, but they can be enjoyed on a lazy afternoon when you've disengaged your brain.

Well written and the characters are brilliant. Invented an interesting society.

I think my favourite are Agent of Change and Plan B, but I like all of them. Some complex issues handled with a lightness of touch. The whole matter of identity and being changed by your job.

Yes, definitely pick-me-up books.

Looking forward to reading the new ones - and hopefully getting hold of I Dare. I bought from Meisha Merlin on most of them. Didn't buy quite far enough of my reading and missed buying I Dare - which went out of print and was up to £45 for a second hand copy the last time I looked.

Crystal Soldier duality is fun - interesting to read such a well crafted prequel.

I love Edger and his brothers. Giant turtles that can kill you with their voice.

Yes, Edger is great. The whole concept of their race, with their very long time scales, and completely different to everyone else's space drive, lots of fun.

The throw-aways about the different planets that Scouts visit are also intriguing. Want to know more about them.

So, I now have I Dare. Re-read Partners in Necessity and Plan B first (Plan B is now bundled with I Dare as Korvals Game). All re-read very well (and not for the first time either). I Dare was a cracking end to the series, very clever the way everything was brought together but also left lots of possibilities for future books. The series is concluded, but it is clear life is going on.
I've also read the first of the Theo Waitley books, Fledgling and that is excellent. Pre-ordered the paperback copy of the sequel, Saltation.

Now waiting on Mouse and Dragon in paperback (an in-fill book after Pilots Choice).

I have Duainfey on my reading pile and saving it for a day with time to sit and read for hours. A not Liaden universe book.

Glad that Lee and Miller are back and in such good form.

Are Baen the people who've done Watcher on the Rhine and A Desert Called Peace?

Actually yes they are and an organization which gives Tom Kratman money won't get a penn from me.

How cheery. There I am, celebrating a really good read, and you have to add this!
