Ok, this book is about a scientist who kidnaps or somehow acquires a newborn baby girl. He raises her in total isolation with no human interaction at all. She is raised watching only videos of chimpanzees and eventually comes to think that SHE is a chimpanzee. Eventually I think he acquires a chimpanzee or two for her to interact with. It was a really creepy science fiction book.
I believe the title of the book was titled "Pan" or had the word Pan in it. I know I read it in the 90s but the book was pretty old then, so I'm thinking it was written in the 80s or late 70s. If anyone can remember the title and author, please let me know. Google is not helping me find this one!
