Hello Fellow Chrons :D

What are (in your opinion) the 10 best sci-fi ideas of the past 20 years?

As mentioned in the 'my problem with SF on TV and Film today' thread I am going to produce a Sci-fi Television program in the vein of Twilight Zone i.e. single episodal stories unrelated to one another. People have mentioned that Sci-fi on television han't really progessed past the ideas created in the 20's or 30's (or possibly 60's) it is my intention to rectify this.
I am a huge fan of short sci-fi stories and I'm thinking that it would be possible to write and produce a television series where each episode is based on a new and exciting short story idea. I am not a millionaire and can't afford huge space opera type scenarios, I am much more interested in simple self-contained ideas that might be possible to produce on a micro budget.

At the moment I am only asking for ideas, single sentences that hold a serious idea that I (and other writers) can develop into episodes.
If anyone is interested in writing, or being part of this project then please let me know. I would be more than happy for you to get involved.

I don't have a title for it yet, but I have one or two simple ideas that I might be able to stretch out to half hour episodes. I am serious about this and I am going to make something, whether it is rubbish or not is another matter, but I'm not worrying about the small details like that at the moment :)

So hit me with your ideas and let us see if we can't save SF from the monotony of predictable TV dross.

p.s. I'm not really against all SF on TV I enjoy DR Who (but that isn't really SF more entertainment) and I watch SGU (but that's a big budget space opera thing)

Alien intelligence stranded on Earth survives through viral personality transfer, but in it's current host falls in love. (It's maybe too much like 'The Thing' I suppose, but with added romance).

Good one :)
Thanks Reiver
But what does it fall in love with, a human? A dog? A door knob?

Doh! The alien passes to a new host via sexual contact and does so in this instance (from female to male) as the result of a rape. As such the new 'he' hasn't researched his own past and is then presented with a new body and lifestyle which has to be worked out 'on the fly'. This vulnerability leads him to depend on his female personal assistant and romance blossoms. Think of it as The Thing meets Mills & Boon...

There's not really any new ideas in SciFi, other than ever-widening tech issues. Keep us posted on this, because it's the right idea, can't beat the Twilite/Outer Limits format because it allows for the great SciFi short stories to be made. And there's a lot of them just sitting there getting old while StarTrek gets fattter.
