Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan, review on Walker of Worlds

Thats a very fine review that mirrors how high i rate this book.

Its more than a cyperpunk, it has its elements but not a cyperpunk book exclusivly.

You can describe it as interesting scientific concepts SF+Noir thriller.

Although i warn you that if you dont like violent noir action you might not like it. Still there is reason why its critically acclaimed.

And you've an excellent chance of enjoying Altered Carbon, AE.

When two or more genres are mixed together, there are risks:
  • the result can be a mish-mash that's worse than a story in either genre on its own might be;
  • one genre can dominate at the expense of the other;
  • the author can be too interested in showing off just how clever they have (not) been when mixing the two.
Altered Carbon does not fall into these traps: the blending of the genres seems somehow inevitable and Morgan takes full advantage of both SF and noir-thriller ideas and themes to create a satisfying and intriguing whole.

Go on, AE: take the plunge!
