Rendezvous with Rama gets filmed,finally!

I could have sworn that I've seen (a long time ago) something on the TV at least vaguely based on Rendezvous with Rama.

Perhaps I dreamt it.

I loved reading 2001 and Childhood's End but, Rendezvous with Rama put me to sleep and bored me to tears. Somehow, I managed to finish reading it in a week but I just couldn't enjoy it. Sorry.

Not bad for a film student work. I thought the big arguments over what Rama "is" were what made the book interesting. That, the "airbike", Manhattan Island, and the power cone among other things. I think it would make a great full length feature.

I must say that the book really bothered me as to what the intention of the Ramans, and the little glimpse that Clarke portrayed, (2m high, 6 armed creature) really intrigued me as much as the Heechee's by Frederik Pohl.

I'll look forward to seeing this mini-film.

I liked the short intro film on this - I remember that the film "Dark Star" started as a student short film before being spotted and expanded into a full blown film.

Hope that someone will pick this one up.

I too hope it gets the big budget treatment it deserves someday. Although they would probably 'Hollywoodise' it.
Always loved this book - its high time i read it again!

Rendezvous with Rama was the first novel of Clarke that I read, back when I was 10 or 11, and it fantastic for me. An endless adventure like Jules Verne updated to the space age. Which I guess is indeed the definition of Clarke.

Ha. I never thought of it like that but yea, good description! Nice to meet another Clarke fan! I of course get my name from one of his creations...
