A question I'm often asked is if my books are ever going to be made into films. The truth is: I have no idea! However, for those 'die hard' fans who keep raising the question, there might be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I was recently talking to a very influential film producer who resides in Beverley Hills and I'm sure that you will be pleased to hear that both my Imperial books and Dragon Orb books are currently under consideration again.

I also have further upcoming meetings with some other very influential folk in the film and TV industries, so things seem to be taking a positive turn.

Great news, Mark - let's hope they see sense sooner rather than later, and make the film(s) that your fans want! :)

Wow the Imperial series would work brilliantly as film. Also I've discovered that the amount of detail you put into the books allows me to almost watch what I'm reading in my head in a movie-like-format.

Mark, promise me one thing.

If you do get any books made into films, please make sure that you insist that you have a large role in casting and just how everything is done in general. I've seen so many good books ruined by films just because the authors haven't had a big hand in it.

Thanks - Mikey

I'm afraid that's one thing I can't promise, Mikey. Very few writers have that sort of power when it comes to the film industry.

Also, as I know so little about making films, my own feelings are that I should divorce myself from the process and (let's hope one day) the end results as much as possible. There will always be those who 'see' characters differently, so some will inevitably be disappointed. In the case of my books this is especially so, as I rarely give detailed character descriptions.

I suppose your right. It's a shame really, but even so make sure that you have some input to it, as I'm sure you can work with a production company/a director to make something great.

I hope they do a film of the Darkweaver series. They are fantastic books which would make a great film quadrilogy! I've already been composing thematic music for the series as everytime I read it, I hear music and see it in my head as a film.

That's amazing! I've never even thought of the musical side of what a film would be like. I'd like to step inside your head so I could hear that! :)

Actually, you only need to step inside my YouTube page as the ones I've done are posted there!

Unfortunately, at the moment I can't post a link but If you search for my username (WROrchestra), there are 9 videos on there that are about the Darkweaver legacy books.

I hope to read your opinions!

Wow! WRO they are fantastic! I've just listened to (I think) all of them and have posted links on my blog to some. Will try to put links elsewhere as well. I'm more than flattered. I've actually just granted limited film rights to a media studies student to produce two 15 minute shorts (taken from The Forging of the Sword) for his dissertation. I will also have a word with him and try to get him to post here. I've no idea yet what he's going to try to produce, but I would be intrigued to see what the two of you could concoct together. The combination would probably make for a great book trailer!

Now, that's an interesting idea! Might be worth a try!

(p.s I just looked over the list you posted on your blog (very honoured, thank you) and I'm hoping you listened to The Terachim Wastes too, I've done 9 so far)

I did indeed. I'll add that link in as well. Wrote the post in an excited flurry earlier, but was in a rush to get out to a Tae Kwon Do class. Will complete the link list in a few minutes. :)

If you drop me an email through the contact page on my website and say a quick hello, I'll see what the budding film producer says and put you in touch with him. I'd better email him first, though. He may have his own ideas.

I agree, Brian. Every now and then I get another sniff of interest, but it seems to fizzle out quite quickly. The interest for my new book, The Devil's Triangle, does seem a lot stronger, though. Enough to spark my agent into a frenzy of activity anyway. :) Let's hope he gets somewhere.

Hi Mark, just tried to send you an email about the composition possibility but it won't let me do IM's or private emails yet!
