As I am reading in preparation for my once in a decade turn as a voting member of my denomination's "congress." I came across this and thought writers would love to read it:

----

Stories are the single best way humans have for accounting for our experiences…

Our stories tell us who we are, why we are here, and what we are to
do. They give us our best answers to all of life’s big questions, and to most
of the small ones as well. Stories engage me as a whole person—intellect,
emotion, spirit, and body—and, when healthy, encourage me to be and do
everything for which I was designed. Stories also bring you and me together.
We not only exchange stories, we are characters in each other’s stories,
and therefore none of us can live our story alone

Your work is important

Mouse, mouse, mouse,

Where or where did you come up with that bit?!:D

I'm not so sure I see as inspiration. I believe I see it as perspective on the human race and it's lowest common denominator. :(

>>> Did you know that the whole Twilight Series finds some of its inspiration in Mormonism?<<<<

Sorry! :D I think I am the lowest common denominator.

(I've not read Twilight and I know nothing about Mormons, so I didn't know that, Parson. :))

Whenever I think about Twilight I just feel sorry for Anne Rice and Joss Whedon. Stephanie Meyer completely undermined years (decades?) of their hard work. Pfffff, sparkly vampires.

Oh yeah, and the story thing is nice. The capacity to tell stories (ie imagination + communication) is, I believe, the central defining characteristic of humanity.

Not all humanity I'm afraid. I have met plenty of people who honestly don't have any imagination at all, and then there are others who are creative but choose that they are not (the later far more depressing then the foremost).

Yea, gotta love these vampire movies where the centuries-old dead thing from the ground pops up looking like a member of the Jonas Bros.

I write stories because I am almost always telling myself stories, and some of them demand to be written down.

It is conceivable to me that others could discourage me from sending out my stories to be published, stop me from showing my stories to other people, but I can't imagine that I would need anyone's encouragement to keep on producing them.

Even the ones that I know aren't good enough to be written down and shared, still they are precious to me.

I get a line or two or a title, and I can't forget it, then it gets written down somewhere. Today's line was 'Rats eat well in a garbage dump.' which contrasts with yesterday's line- 'Cheeseburgers are my best friends' which didn't get written down.

I wish I could say the same Teresa, however I do get discouraged from writing my series (both of them). Sometimes it just feels good to hear that you can do it. Thankfully my Mamma helps out alot. She tells me I can do it, things are just better when they mature. I guess it's like a good wine.
