Hi, I've been trying to find a book that I read a long time ago but I have no idea what the title is or who wrote it. I only remember what it was about.
The story started with the human race making peace with a feline like alien species after a long war. However, shortly after the peace, one of the alien's ships is attacked by unknown ship that is very similar to the humans ships.
It turns out that a long time before, a human ship travelled through some kind of wormhole and ended up in an astroid field. They had a collision and crash landed on a planet with a primitive race of short aliens with snout like noses. The short aliens came to revere the humans and formed some kind of religion based on the information stored on the downed ship. After many years, they acheived space flight thanks to the knowledge stored on the human ship. So these short aliens came through the wormhole and started attacking the feline aliens AND the humans in an attempt to convert them to their religion.
The humans promised the feline aliens that they would deal with this new threat and so the rest of the book is about the war between the humans and the short aliens.
Other Details:
There is a Russian Admiral in charge of the human fleet.
One of the feline aliens decides to join the human fleet because he wants revenge for a dead relative (I think).
Space fighters are a big part of the combat.
The short alien's admiral and his mate is somehow captured (don't remember how) and begins to sympathize with the humans. He starts to help them.
There is planetary warfare involved also, and there is like a main general involved too...maybe...not quite sure.
The marines involved in the planetary warfare have something like powersuits and are much better equipped than the short aliens.
There is a female officer that is field promoted to comodore by her superior right before he dies. She takes command of a star system pulling rank on another commodore there. She starts building up her own fleet in order to defend the system. By the end of the story, there is a love interest between her and the other commodore.
Well, if anyone actually read all that, I hope ya'll can help me out!
Thanks
