What image, painting, or photograph that appeared on a Science Fiction or Fantasy book do you consider to be the most iconic?.

What original artwork from any book would you hang on your wall and say to your friends, " This is what SF & F is all about"

I have 5 or 6 possibles and I am interested in what this community will come up with.

It's difficult to think of anyone other than Richard Powers when it comes to SciFi...fantasy would be ....Frazetta ?

Yeah, i think that any of these fantasy artists would suffice. Personally though, i like Jim Burns.

Outside of that though, I think the most iconic image for me is the Sandworms on the Dune covers.

The John Schoenherr covers? Great stuff. Beyond that, anything by Frank Frazetta, Kelly Freas or (going way back) Virgil Finley.

Boris Vajelo [forgive the spellling] was always pretty synonymous with fantasy art covers back in the 70s.

This Finlay cover, minus the Weird Tales logo, scared me plenty.

Not specifically but as an artist, for me it's hard to go past the iconic Frank Frazetta, especially for S&S....:)
