A derailed attempt by the Lucian Alliance to seize control of Destiny culminates in hostages and casualties on both sides. With a tense stand off between Colonel Young and his brutal adversary, Commander Kiva, the Destiny starts having ship wide power black outs. To make matters worse, Dr. Rush concludes that these power fluctuations are being caused by deadly bursts of radiation from a binary pulsar that will in a short while cause the shields to fail and kill all aboard the ship.

While the standoff plays out, Eli helps an injured Chloe as they try to make their way back from a remote section of the ship.

Well, they do love their cliffhangers don't they?
I'm expecting more casualties from the supporting cast in terms of the military during the first episode of the next season.

There was a lot of good give and take during this episode and the previous episode. Two military commanders who are pretty much evenly matched, although Kiva is far more willing to do what needs to be done, whereas Young hesitated on a tactical decision which got them into this mess in the first place.

Thinking logically, his plan was almost the worst they could have come up with, given the Alliance bringing Rush was a fairly predictable variable. Vacuuming the gate-room the moment the gate dialled would have been much better, with their own troops in space-suits waiting to help Rush. Even better would have been to stick a chair over the base of the Stargate and simply prevent it dialling-in...

Any thoughts on what direction the new series will take? They will have lost some cast, that's for sure. Is it perhaps time to meet some aliens and take them on board? And when are we going to find out about the guy who was 'eaten' by the ship, or whatever happened to him when he sat in the chair? I'm still waiting for the ship to reveal itself as a character in its own right and start taking sides in all this.

I'm assuming it's going to head, at least for a while, with both SGC and Lucian Alliance on board, presumably fractitiously. Which doesn't excite me.
