The second hand store across the road has all 6 books in this series for $8. If I had $8 on me at the time I would have bought it...

Just wanted to know what you guys thought of it while I save up $8 :p I remember seeing it in the school library as a kid and thinking it looked cool.
The Wiki article said that it ends with what sounds like quite an irritating cliff-hanger... Other than that is it any good?

Nobody seems to have anything bad to say about it. I like the fact that it doesn't spend 200 pages clearing it's throat...

Thanks for the link =D

Hi Doc,

I read all of these and for $8 it's a bargain. I bought all of these brand new a long while ago but they were considerably more!

It's a good story and I remember enjoying the series but I do recall being slightly disappointed by the ending. I can't recall why as it was quite a few years back when I read them but from my hazy memory I thought the storyline was building up quite nicely but ended a bit of a damp squib leaving me rather disappointed with what felt like a bit of a rushed ending.

If you do read the series drop me a line if you don't mind and let me know your thoughts

Cheers
Crooksy

In the link posted by murphy it said that there is an epilogue in the 6th book that answers the cliffhanger ending? If that is the case then that shouldn't be a problem.

I'll definitely buy the series. It might be a while before I get around to reading them though so don;t hold your breath :)

I know I read some of them, but not the entire series. Hmm; how about I send you the $8Au, and you send me the books when you've finished them?

I kind of found this series enjoyable, but also irritating. It starts off as a trilogy, and I can remember getting to the third book and thinking, 'Boy, he's going to have to go some to tie all this together'. But then it was six...

(Semi-spoiler alert)

The irritating part is the underlyling strategy being pursued by the 'bad guys' - slow attrition as opposed to getting every train together in one place and exterminating a given tribe. Then move on...

Rofl, I have the $8 I just left my wallet at home that day.

I went back today and they had sold them about half an hour before I got there...

NOOOOOOOO!!!

I wish they could have held them for me but the bitter old lady behind the counter refused...

No. I wasn't looking to buy it specifically It was more the fact that I stumbled across it.

Besides I don't have an eBay account. I have never used it before lol :)

I initially thought it was a trilogy as well, but realised this must have been wrong by the time I got into the third book and it was clear the storyline was nowhere near being resolved.

I only read the first three in the end, it wasn't a bad read and it had a reasonably interesting premise but I didn't care much about any of the characters and I wasn't interested enough in them to want to read another three books to find how the story got resolved - if it didn't actually end up getting resolved then perhaps it is a good thing I stopped where I did.
