Terminator 3 RotM not given a fair chance?

I have to admit that i rather liked T3 and didn't really see what the negativity was about. OK, it was not as good as the first two and i would have liked to see Edward Furlong reprise his role as John Connor, but i enjoyed it.

I think they tried to get Edward Furlong back, but due to *problems* in her personal life, he was unable to continue - or so the story goes...

Oh i appreciate that, but it would've been nice. There was a certain chemistry in T2. Whether that's due to Cameron's script and direction or the actors themselves i'm not sure, but it was definately there.

I liked Nick Stahl as John Connor better than Edward Furlong. I also lean more toward liking the third movie better than the second. It always made sense to me, that if judgement day didn't happened back in 1997, John Connor would go through life as a loser, for fear that anything he did could put him back on the radar and perhaps bring about the end of the world.

Terminator 3 does a good job of illustrating how judgment day is inevitable when SkyNet sends the terminator back to kill John's generals, (who didn't know to stay under the radar) and introduce the SkyNet virus, instead. It showed how judgment day wasn't dependent on John's membership in society or any particular computer that he or his mother might destroy.

Yeah, I thought T3 touched on some good ideas, but the comment the Terminator makes about "Judgement day being inevitable" kind of contradicts the previous two films' premise about "no fate but what we make for ourselves" - a kind of bugbear among the hardcore fans!

I get annoyed at the plot holes towards the end of this film, such that I rate it the weakest of the genre, plus I wasn't that keen on Mr Stahl in the lead role (as he looked a bit of a geek to be a highly-trained combat specialist on the run). But what do I know...

I can see how some people might think that the statement contradicts the second film. But it doesn't really contradict the first film.

T-3 only showed how the same people who were constantly repeating stuff like that in T-2 had absolutely no control over whether or not judgment day actually happened. So in that sense, the audience can't believe what the characters are saying, because in the end their words are little more than wishful thinking.

They were just characters that hoped judgment day didn't happen, strictly because they blew up a certain computer and the research that went along with it. They seemed to be content with that thought, that they had done everything required to stop judgmnet day. In T-3 we found out that they were mistaken, and by that time judgment day was already upon them. There was no stopping it.

I've never really recognized any contradiction regarding this issue in any of the films myself.

I read somewhere that they chose Nick Stahl because he looked a bit like Reece?

I guess I can sort of see that, although, judging from the trivia on IMDb, there were a few more actors in the running who fell through before they settled on him (Edward Furlong obviously), so who knows?

I thought it was a good movie obviously not as good as the first 2 coz the problem with this one is, they lost the fear/thrill factor.

When I first saw T3, I thought it lacked the soul that it's predecessors had. It was fun, but it didn't felt as real and special as T1 and T2 did. However, I have come to appreciate it more after seeing T4, which wasn't a fun movie at all. I didn't know a terminator movie could be so boring. I did like parts of the SCC though.

My ideal T3 movie would have been a 'condensed' Sarah Connor Chronicals keeping the best aspects - Arnie optional, as the female Terminators were good in their own way (moreso if you're a bloke I'm guessing  ).
