So, has anyone here read any of the Skullduggery Pleasent novels?
I got the first one a few months back at a local charity shop and have recently picked up the second book which I will hopefully start reading soon.

For those who don't know about the books they're written by Derek Landy and are a series of four books I think there's more coming out. It's set in Ireland and involves an undead skeleton detective and a 13 year old girl named Stephanie. The plot revolves around trying to solve the mystery behind the death of her uncle and of course plenty of fighting off of evil foes and the like.

It's a pretty good read.

I've read the first two. They're pretty good: quite funny, easy to read. Some of them are a bit thin though, and I think they'd make much better films.

I've read the first as well. Back in my early teens, I've no doubt that this would have been among my favourite reads. However, the humour was too close to that of David Eddings, (whom I loved, but overdosed on many years ago!) which put me off getting any more.

I read the first one but just wasn't intrigued enough to continue with the series. The name Skullduggery Pleasant however is fabulous and probably the main reason I read the book in the first place.

I've read the first three and have some more to read. I like them. They're fun and easy to read, especially when I get home from work. I agree that the books would make great movies and I love the names of the characters. They're not going to win any prizes as great literature but they're way fun to read. It's hard not to like a walking, talking skeleton with so much attitude and fashion sense.

I started the first one at work (kids' bookshop) but didn't get a chance to finish it. I'm looking forward to picking it up again. Also, I'm wearing a Skulduggery Pleasant tattoo right now (also snagged from work...)
