LOng time Sf fans will remember Patricia Neal playing opposite MIchael Rennie in the 1951 version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

She had several other memorable roles, but this was, as far as I know, her only major SF role.

Imho, she and Michael Rennie really were great in their scenes together. But then I am a BIG fan of "The Day the Earth Stood Still". The 1951 version, that is.

Going totally against the grain of most film fans, I never cared for her as an actor. But The Day The Earth Stood Still is an exception. She seemed right for the role.

I've not seena lot of her work but I alwas felt that was an incredible movie with superb acting on both her part and her costar. Comparing the two versions of the movie shows you what good acting and imagination can do as opposed to special effects and modernizing a movie.
