Poems Not in The Ancient Track

Lovecraft Annual No. 3 [2009] : Hippocampus Press

So turns out The Ancient Track was not a complete collection of HPL's poetic works :(

We already knew that, since there is one poem in it for which only the title ("An American to the British Flag") was known at the time of publication (no copy of the amateur magazine where it was originally published could be located). Sean McLachlan of the EOD later found it in the British Library.

Anyone with a copy of this care to share these odd rarities?

Very few of the poems in Lovecraft Annual #3 are complete poems -- most of them are just fugitive lines gleaned from various letters.

Oh, and one more thing: After Lovecraft Annual #3 was published, Juha-Matti Rajala of the EOD located another poem that SHOULD have been known, because it was published in A Catalogue of Lovecraftiana (four lines of dedicatory poetry in C. M. Eddy's personal copy of the poems of Jonathan E. Hoag, IIRC).

I have the issue and I'll see what I can do, but I really recommend you to buy it -- there are editorial comments on all the poems that I'm too lazy to copy. :D

I wouldn't feel too bad about this sort of thing, Pablo. After all, they still aren't certain they have everything Poe or Le Fanu wrote... and, as Martin says, the commentary there is also worth reading. As for the rest of the articles... fascinating stuff.....
