I cant remember the author or title of a paperback that I read in the 90s.
We received a message from space that lead to instructions on building a device to allow us to interface with an alien internet. The man that broke the code was handicapped and was able to walk later in the book with the aid of the medical advances we learned from the aliens. Right before the world completely plugs in, an older man thinks it may be a trap. The book ends with a landing on a planet orbiting alpha centauri (I think). Any help would be very much appreciated.
