On Saturday March 12th 2011, Leeds will be hosting its first Science Fiction and Fantasy event in many years - ConJour.

The one day event is being sponsored by Tor UK and SFF fans will have the opportunity to attend guest talks and panels, and meet some of their favourite authors at signing sessions taking place throughout the day.

Confirmed guests attending the event are Mike Carey, Kate Griffin, Mark Charan Newton, Justina Robson, Adrian Tchaikovsky and Freda Warrington.

For more information about the event and to book tickets, please visit the website www.conjureevents.co.uk

ConJour – A one day event for SFF fans

Just a quick update for early supporters. If you book your Conjour ticket before the end of November you will be automatically entered into a free prize draw to win a stack of ten SFF books from a range of authors across a range of publishers.

More information is available on the website.

Good luck!

We are delighted to annouce three new guests have confirmed for Conjour in March - Richard Morgan, Suzanne McLeod and John Meaney.

Please note we are also talking to a number of additional authors and at present the ticket price is £25, but from December 1st 2010 the price will increase to £30.

Early supporters who purchase a ticket before December 1st will be entered into a free prize draw to win a stack of ten of the latest science fiction and fantasy novels from a wide range of authors including Richard Morgan, China Mieville, Peter F. Hamilton and Ian Whates.

Andy Remic has also just announced his attendence at Conjour.

Tomorrow is also the last day for early bird priced tickets.

Okay, I've succumbed to temptation. Too many friends on the guest list or simply attending for me not to come along, so I've just bought a couple of tickets. Should be fun! :)

Hugely disappointed to receive a refund for Con Jour membership this morning and to learn that the event's been cancelled due to lack of early support.

Having organised conventions myself, I know how stressful it can be when initial sales are sluggish, and I can appreciate the risks involved; but I also know that sales tend to escalate spectacularly the nearer an event comes. As far as I can see (and I'm happy to be corrected), they've cancelled just a month after the event was announced, which gives little chance for ticket sales to gather momentum, and I genuinely believe that, had the organisers held their collective nerve, things would have worked out.

It was always a brave move announcing a con with so little lead time. Had this been scheduled for March 2012 rather than 2011, I can't help feeling things would have been very different.

Ah well, another one bites the dust. :(

Very sorry to hear too that Conjour was cancelled - I was really looking forward to it. At least Stephen tried and I hope he'll try again in the future.

Yes... if it had been 2012 and he'd had a stall selling tickets at Eastercon...?

Nice!
I am going to move to Leeds :D
And I am going to stay till end of March - what more could you want?
