Maybe it's just me and feel free to blow me out of the water. But the more I think of it the more I feel that it will be Galad that takes some sort of fatal blow to save Rand, that will bring this prophecy to light. What is the point of their 1/2 blood relationship otherwise? Galad lives the world in a purely black and white way. There is right and wrong with him and no shade of gray. I believe that he will see that Rand is the only way of defeating the Dark One and will do all in his power to help him achieve that. I'm pretty new to this series and have only read them through the one time, but i'm pretty sure that you could have the exact same story without a need to have them related. Anyway, just a theory:D

Brilliant, Senta23. I like the way you think.
This is a very valid theory, and one I never
considered before. I agree there is likely to
be a purpose to the blood relationship
between Rand and Galad.

Welcome to the series.
What book are you currently on?

I'm just after finishing the Towers of Midnight. I'm going to have a read through of the whole series again though. Preferably when it's getting close to the realse of the last book:(. I want it to end but don't want it to end, if you get me. It's just that the more I think of it, the more it seems likely that it will be Galad to fall in place of Rand at Tarmon Gai'don. Why else have a blood connection? And why make that blood connection to be so, for want of a better description, pure and wholesome.

If I remember correctly, when you first hear of Galad, it's from Elayne's perspective and she has a small dislike of Galad. From there I was expecting to take a dislike to him aswel but he's always been a decent character. I don't know, maybe it's just me thinking too much of it but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this is the way it turns out.

That's an interesting theory - one I hadn't heard before - and I'll be curious to see if it happens.:)

As for the purpose of Rand and Galad being related - didn't Elaida have a foretelling that said that the line of Andor would be key to winning the Last Battle? Could Galad have been a red herring? At the time, we didn't know Rand's connection to Tigraine, and his link to Andor. Either way, Galad could still play a big part in the Last Battle, so that interpretation may not be too far off the mark.

Galad's character has grown on me since the start of the series. I didn't like him at first, probably for the same reasons as you, Senta - we saw him through Elayne's perspective. However, as the series has progressed, I find that I like Elayne less and less now. Galad finally seems to be learning that the world isn't all black and white, whereas to me, Elayne hasn't changed much at all.

Yes. Nice work, can't say I'd ever heard of that before. It does make some sort of sense but I could also see someone stabbing Rand just to try and complete the prophesy.

Agreed Taly, Elayne (and her baths) became one of the most annoying things in the series. Perhaps she dies, her baby would also be Rands blood.
