I'm interested in checking out this amateur film shot on VHS. Has anyone seen it? Does it capture something of Lovecraft? does it tell the story he wrote or a different one? What are your impressions of it? Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy it?

I haven't seen this one, I must admit, though (iirc) I have seen a clip or two from it. It is, naturally, rather crudely done, but as I recall it is an adaptation of "The Statement of Randolph Carter". I don't recall enough to say whether there are things there which overcome the crudeness (for me) or not, I'm afraid....

However, it was done by the H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society, and they do tend to be rather conscientious about such things. You can find out more about this one here:
