It's been a long time since I've posted on these forums, but I read this article and couldn't help but share it with my fellow GRRM fans. Here are some impressions from IGN on the new ASoIaF series, who've seen 15 minutes of footage from a Game of Thrones at a recent television event.

I can't wait to see what they do with the series (and how they handle some of those moments I believe will be difficult to translate to film).

Commonmind, thanks a bunch. Good to see you!

SPOILER ALERT

Sean Bean actually gives the number of episodes he filmed... For you soccer fans, what do Pele, Maradona, and Zidane have in common?

The only connection I can think of :)rolleyes:) between those three and Ned, Boaz, is that Maradonna once famously used a hand to win a game of football at the World Cup Finals....

Oh, and they're all ... er ... ex-players, at least in international football, so they don't do as much roamin' about as they once did....

And back to the thread topic: I saw the Winter is Coming report on this 15-minute non-trailer. They were very impressed, which bodes well for the series as a whole.

Negatory:

Sean says that 10 episodes were filmed overall, not that he was in 10 eps.

Hmmmm, well I was going for the fact that all three wore the same number. I was trying to relate to you Brits and non-Americans on a sports level. Because I'd normally leap to say names like Walt Frazier and Fran Tarkenton... but you'd probably not get that reference.

Bean mentions the number of episodes filmed in the next to last paragraph... I assumed that was his number of episodes, but Wert says this is the number for the first season. And he would know much better than I.

Your hint worked for me.

(And I imagine more folk realised what you were talking than they did when reading my response, with its "ex-players", an image not helped by the fact that these footballers never, to my knowledge, wore a roman numeral on their backs.)
