The people who love you are worth more than gold.
It seems that the Winter issue has been consistently late since Tower of Light went on a semi-annual schedule, for one reason or another. This year, after some health problems, the subsequent recovery, and the flow of submissions, I realized that January probably isn't a good time to do readings and definitely not for publishing an issue.

I do have help, fortunately, from my co-editor Jeff Richards—for which I am very grateful. Don't know what I'd do without him, sometimes. But, as for the readings, submissions only seemed to trickle in at first and then suddenly flooded near the end of January, much too close to the beginning of classes. Besides, it is my hope to take a class each winter mini-mester at TU anyway, to get through school faster. This year I couldn't because I ran out of money, which—in this case—is fortunate for ToL.

Also, when I took summer courses last year I ended up publishing that issue late too, because the classes coincided with the time for reading and publishing the webzine. However, I still have at least a month or more straight through each summer of free time, so it was not impossible.

That free time is all I have, though. So starting next year, Tower of Light will have to become an annual webzine, which will be published near the end of August, about a week before the start of classes each Fall semester. There will be only one reading period, from July 15 to August 27. The reading period will go into effect this year, so after the Winter 2011 issue is published I will not be reading anything again until July 15. The publication date for the Summer 2011 issue will also be the first week of August.

However, the first annual issue—and each future issue—in 2012 will feature nine stories instead of six.

So, once again, I'd like to thank everyone who continues to contribute to Tower of Light Fantasy webzine, whether by reading or story submissions (or editing!). Your patience and support have been a breath of fresh air, despite ToL's rocky history.
