Should I keep Going?

So I just finished Shadowmarch, and while there's a lot to like about it, I just haven't been able to get into it. While it's well constructed and the writings pretty good, I just find pretty much all the characters irritating and the setting is soooooo familiar...

Anyone care to make the case that I should keep on going and pick up book two?

I have to say, I didn't make it all the way through this one for the same reason. It wasn't the story so much as the characters. It's been a long time now, maybe i should add it back in to my TBR pile.

Sure there will be a Tad fan along soon to give you a hundred reasons to keep going though

I kind of hope so... I really wanted to like it. But it just became a slog to finish. I do have a nagging suspicion that I'm missing something though... Happy to find out I'm wrong here.
