The female protagonist is on Earth which is maintained in a primitive state. A nobleman/ rich guy type comes to Earth out of curiousity and gets in a fight and the girl helps him and flees with him in his sentient ship and gets some kind of protective spacesuit/skin thing put on her. I think one the family groups was called Orrefors or something. Please help. Thanks

OMG! and it's all thanks to google finding your thread and jogging my memory!
I have been searching for the exact same title.

"Dream Dancer"....by Janet Morris, is book one.
"Cruiser Dreams" is book two.
"Earth Dreams" is third and final in the series.
All published in early 1980's
