Eastercon 2011

Will be at Eastercon from the Friday until the Monday. Alt Fiction, I think just for the Saturday and no Fantasycon this year.

The job situation is a bit sticky at present. Thankfully the money for Eastercon is tucked away and if I go to Derby for the day I can beg a lift, so not too bad. But I can't commit to anymore just in case. Besides, Fantasycon is in Brighton, which means paying for more than one night's hotel as well as train fare. If I am still in a job towards the end of the year I will try to go to Novacon in November.

Also in 2014 there could be a biggie Con here in the UK. UK fandom has a bid in for;
London in 2014

And Eastercon 2012 I must not miss next year.

Olympus 2012 - 2012 Eastercon, 6th - 9th April 2012: Radisson Edwardian Hotel

Well, I'm all booked for Illustrious. I'm trying to convince my writing circle minions to come allong, too.

I put £10 into the 2014 bid at Novacon. I'm not entirely sure what that will mean. Perhaps I get to be a guest of honour or something.

I'll be in Brum for the Eastercon. Next year is not so likely - I hate Eastercons in London.

Yes, you can buy day memberships. And I'm fairly sure you can pay on the door. The website doesn't mention it, though. Might be worth emailing them.

Especially that Radisson Hotel with the non-euclidean physics. I swear the rooms kept moving. People wonder why fandom is shrinking- that hotels swallowing them up I tell ye!

Yes, it is a horrible hotel, but it will be (most likely) the only time I will get to see GOH, GRRM, at a Con.

I also hate the fact that travelling across London costs nearly as much as getting to London in the first place. And the hotel is miles from anywhere, with only other hotels around it.

The way I read it you have to buy membership to get through the door first?

TEIN, usually at Eastercons you can turn up on the door and buy day/weekend memberships there and then. I don't suppose this one will be any different, though it doesn't mention this on the website. Might be an idea to email them, though, be warned, the organisers are under massive pressure at the moment, so don't expect a prompt response.

Yes I went to the Bradford one on the Saturday. Don't remember seeing you there (although that might have been my eyesight). In any case I would have been too daunted to approach an illustrious fellow such as your self. I went to John's thing though, which I found interesting although Mrs TEIN was less keen.

However, this year the site seemed to be asking for a payment before you could book anything in advance. Whether you get that back if you actually booked a ticket/room I don't know. I stopped being interested at that point.

I do think it should be compulsory for attendees to wear their Avatars across their backs to give fellow members a clue.
