Anyone know when it'll be available as a TPB here in the UK?

After The Courtyard, I'm eagerly awaiting this one. Can't really go wrong with Moore, can you?

Really dislike this comic. Moore does his usual "everything is about sex" fanfiction technique on the works of Lovecraft, and its just... unpleasant.

Follows a pair of FBI investigators who get mixed up in a Cthulhu cult, except that of the 4 issues in total, the 1st is setup, the following 2 are entirely devoted to depicting the graphic repeated rape of one of the main characters, and the 4th is tying up the plot.

I've long suspected that Moore's overuse of rape in his stories has grown into a unhealthy obsession (it appears in just about all of his work), and has gotten far more troubling and frequent than Frank Miller's puerile but forgiveable love of whores and hard-talking men.

November 25th, according to Amazon.co.uk. (Btw, the hardcover is only £1.50 more at Amazon's pre-order prices so might be worth the extra investment if you're going to spring for the TPB.)

Thanks for the tip, Demos!

Hmmm, that doesn't sound to good, no. But his earlier work around the same theme/world, The Courtyard wasn't dabling with sexual themes. How did you find that book in comparison?

Hey Magnus,

I only recently had a chance to read The Courtyard in full. I didn't realise Neonomicon follows on from it directly.

Yeah the Courtyard is a much better story, for me anyway. The violent elements are held back much more, while the insane reality-bending parts are more prominent yet mysterious, and to me, more interesting. And with the graphic sexual elements removed, it feels more Lovecraft-ian, though Lovecraft always held back more when getting into specifics in the violence.

There's something present in both books, which is an awareness of fictional space bleeding into reality. Similar to the kind of thing Grant Morrison explores often (characters realising they're in a comic). Its especially noticeable in Neonomicon, with its panels-within-panels and the various tricks he plays with foreground/background (especially noticeable in Neonomicon #1). That kind of thing is interesting to me...

Is there going to be another book to follow on from the series?

I'm not sure.

But I'll be sure to chime in with my comments on Neonomicon once I've read it.
