Hello.
Does anybody know anything about following two books?:

1. The protagonist is some man, pacifist and music composer. Then one day he discovers that Earth is visited by some alien team (from diffrenet species, I remember cat like species, seal like species and crayfish like species). The alien's ship was accidentally shoot down by some countrie's air defence.
The man finds out, that the civilizations those aliens are from, are in war with some oposing species, guided by mind controlling creatures for the "best purposes".
As others find out about aliens, many humans start joining that war on the side oposing mind controllers. It appears that humans are total exception in universe because of superhigh level of aggresion for intelligent beings. Therefore they make good fighting forces in that war.

2. The second book I remember very poorly, but I will make a shot:
The book is about new battle station (spherical, as usual :) ), that has been made by some old galactic civilization (one of several). Battle station has been delivered to some distant star system, but as time passes, something happends to capital planet (revolution or some degradation, I can not remember). The leader finds out, that he has no commanders anymore, so he and his comrades start to live on their own. They start developing new technologies, wandering around, make contacts with some neighbours, rub some of them (for resources), but later makes allies with one of those (I think the planets name was something like Beowulf, but that book was not Honorverse). After a few years the leader (now a Prince) visits an "Old world" planet and surprisingly he discovers that His new kingdom has surpased old world technologically.

Sorry for poor details, thats all I remember :/
Got tired searching google.

The second one is vaguely familiar and I am thinking of A.E. Van Vogt's Empire of the Atom and The Wizard of Linn. Don't recall any death stars though.

There's no battle station in Empire of the Atom or its sequel, although the main character does steal a giant spaceship from the enemy aliens. And when they visit an enemy planet, they discover a human civilisation with mindpowers living underground.
